Looks great - kudos for tackling this @nik-localstack ! 🚀 (only two minor nitpick comments/suggestions..)
Btw, if we want to ship this directly to the customer, we could bump the version in setup.cfg and release a new version to pypi. I would suggest that we combine that with the renaming of the extension from localstack-extension-aws-replicator to localstack-extension-aws-proxy right away, actually - happy to discuss offline.. 👍
