"DirectLink was motivated by an obvious omission from the Prefs panel for setting up a PPP connection directly through a serial cable without a modem, which for development of network apps will come in very handy since you don't need to be on the phone all day."

"This is a very preliminary version of a terminal program, written with Jump. It's a somewhat more traditional terminal program than others I've seen for the Pilot (where you enter text into a field and press Send). This one sends characters as you enter them.
It achieves a 40×24 terminal display by using its own 3×5 font, which I think is quite readable, even for lowercase characters. There is a menu choice for displaying the character set.
For sending characters, the carriage-return stroke generates a CR character, and a "next field" stroke (down and then up again) generates a LF character."

Pilot VT100 is a simple terminal emulator for the 3Com / USR Pilot PDA. It uses a very small fixed-sized font (3×5 character cells) and provides a 40×25 character screen. Buttons for escape (ESC) and control (CTL) allow the use of escape (ascii 27) and control a-z (ascii 1-27). To use control characters, tap the CTL button and write a lower-case letter.

"SimpleTerm is an experimental terminal program for the USR Pilot. It doesn't do a terminal emulation, but does allow you to use AT commands to connect to remote computer systems via a modem. I have used SimpleTerm to log in to networks with both dial-back and dial-thru. Reading mail is a bit of a challenge, but can be done - as can surfing the web!"
