While membership may overlap between the Gem Cooperative and various cooperatives, organizations, or companies, the Gem Cooperative exists independently of them.

The governance model defined in this repository aims to ensure our independence with restrictions including the following:

• Governance, Section 3 (Project Leadership Committee), item 5

  No more than one employee of the same employer may serve on the PLC.

• Governance, Section 4 (Technical Steering Committee), item 4

  No more than one employee of the same employer may serve on the TSC.
