## About Me

**Name (or handle):** Maz

**Where I'm joining from:** Manchester

I work as a software engineer and am looking to upskill in coding and AI.

## Reflections

1. What does being part of a women's tech community mean to you?

It means advocacy, and it means that when you walk into a room, you're not the only person there. I know that the statistics for women in ML and AI are even worse than the general stats for women in tech. Being able to build a community where we can rely on each other, even if it's a smile from across the room, makes the world of a difference.

2. What is it about AI agents that interests you, and what do you hope to learn?

AI agents are really interesting to me because I want to be able to automate the boring things in my life, but also understand from the ground up how they work and what the best practises are. I would like to know how to apply them in a modern way because I feel like I am somewhat behind on understanding how agents work. This is an opportunity for me to really push my learning and growth. I essentially just want to learn how they work, what I can use them for, and how they can exist and fit into my existing automations and workflows.

3. If you could build an AI agent to solve any problem, what would it do and why?

Honestly, for me, if I could build an AI agent to solve a problem, it would probably be to help me with my general admin. I'm really forgetful. I forget to reply to emails, look at dates, and sometimes struggle to keep up with that sort of stuff, so I think an agent would help me with that. On a higher level, I would honestly love to have an AI agent that would be able to support and mentor other people based on the collective experiences of others.

4. What's one skill you're bringing to the hackathon, and one you're hoping to pick up?

One skill I think I have is the idea to be able to be product-first and do what is called product engineering. I love looking at the wider problem and working backwards, rather than starting with the tech. What I'm hoping to pick up are best practises, ways to think and ask questions within the context of AI and automations, and honestly just to meet other like-minded people.

5. What would a successful hackathon look like for you personally?

A successful hackathon for me would honestly just be to see the creative and interesting ways different people work on their projects and work on the ideas that they have. Rather than the competitive element of hackathons, I genuinely just love seeing how humans can be creative and work together.
