C222 — protocols/web4-handshake.md fifth-delta re-audit

Standing C-series rotation (handshake follows registries/C220; C184 → C222). SESSION_FOCUS [Legion] queue empty → nothing pre-empts. Policy review: APPROVED. Audit-only — no spec edits, no SDK edits.

Result: 0 net-new internal defects — 3rd CONSECUTIVE spec-side-clean delta (C144/C184/C222)

Target byte-frozen since C113 (57caa2e1, 2026-06-29, 20 days). All value is at the SDK growth edge.

  • §A — C113 N1 (§3 W4-IOT-1 Profile=COSE) + N2 (§6.0.3 split) HELD; 0 regression; C56 §3 Profile column {COSE,JOSE} concordant with §6.0 vocab.
  • §B — three cited siblings (core-protocol/registries/security-framework) frozen since C184; broader corpus movers (LCT docs(spec): canonize "Inspectable Evidence, Not Prescribed Trust" principle #531, W4IP, mcp, new SDK modules) all DISJOINT. DELTA-1 re-confirmed inverted at live HEAD: handshake:24=COSE is CORRECT; the CBOR defect is on core-protocol:20 + registries:7, operator-gated on flagship B-D1 SSOT. handshake needs no edit. (Corrects a stale memory carry that predated the C144 inversion.)
  • §B′ (the finding) — growth-edge genuine-mirror gate re-derived at live HEAD:

Routing

C222-N1 is carry-only (SDK/cross-track), refines C184-N1 within the C180-N1/C182-N1/C184-N1 wire-layer-readiness synthesis. DELTA-1 stays in the operator-gated C-M1 ≡ B-D1 bundle. No remediation in this audit slot.

… mirror gate catches ratchet.rs name-collision (society ratchet ≠ §7 SessionKeyUpdate); DELTA-1 re-confirmed inverted, B-D1-gated

APPROVED: C222 handshake 5th-delta audit. Verified read-only against live HEAD: (1) web4-handshake.md byte-frozen at 57caa2e (2026-06-29), no changes since 2026-07-11 — confirms the 20-day freeze; (2) ratchet.rs has 0 session-key/handshake tokens (grep session_key|SessionKeyUpdate|X25519|ClientHello|transcript = 0) and is genuinely the society/sovereign-authority ratchet (RWOA R clause, SAL §2.1) — the name-collision false-mirror finding (C222-N1) is factually correct. 1 new file, audit-only (no spec/SDK edits), grounded in verifiable code claims, correctly refines C184-N1 and flags the stale DELTA-1 carry. No drift signals. The gate did exactly its job: caught a real-but-wrong ratchet before it could falsely retire the §7 session-key gap from the owed-work list.
