fhosts Proxy Helper v1.0.0

Native proxy helper for the fhosts Firefox extension.

This companion application is required for the fhosts extension to function. It handles the actual hostname-to-IP substitution that allows you to override DNS resolution on a per-tab basis.

Requirements

• Windows 10/11
• Firefox 91.1.0 or later
• fhosts Firefox extension installed

Installation

1. Download 'fhosts-proxy-windows.zip'
2. Extract to a permanent location (e.g., 'C:\Program Files\fhosts-proxy')
3. Run 'install.bat' as Administrator
4. Restart Firefox

How it works

The proxy helper runs in the background when the extension is active. It receives hostname mappings from the extension and routes HTTP/HTTPS traffic to your specified IP addresses instead of using DNS resolution.

Uninstallation

Run 'uninstall.bat' to remove the registry entry, then delete the folder.
