This is a repository containing tools to query observations catalogue from 2mass and Gaia.
For the moment, only 3 program can be used:
findgaia.py: This program send a query to the Gaia archive (https://gea.esac.esa.int/archive/) to recover data from the Gaia DR3 point source catalogue in a zone define by its center and its size.find2mass.py: This program send a query to the NASA/IPAC Infrared Science Archive (https://irsa.ipac.caltech.edu) to recover data from the 2MASS point source catalogue in a zone define by its center and its size.findgaia2mass.py: This program send a query to the Gaia archive (https://gea.esac.esa.int/archive/) to recover data from a cross-match between the Gaia DR3 point source catalogue and the 2MASS point source catalogue in a zone define by its center and its size.findsimbad.py: This program send a query to Simbad (https://simbad.u-strasbg.fr) to get objects information given their Identifier. A pseudo cross-match with Gaia is possible. WARNING: This program is different to previous ones, as it allows for custom queries.
Both program work in the same way. Thay take as argments:
- REQUIRED: Zone center Galactic longitude (in degree). Should be contained between 0 and 360. Negative value are accepted, as soon as the pixel size allow to have a positive ending value. Argument:
-l. - REQUIRED: Zone center Galactic lattitude (in degree). Should be contained between -90 and 90. Argument:
-b. - OPTIONAL: Directory on whish the data will be saved. Argument:
-d. Empty by default. - OPTIONAL: Pixel size, i.e size of the zone of interest (in arcminute). Argument:
-p. Default to 5. - OPTIONAL: Show information (verbose). Argument:
-v. Should be 1 or 0. Default to 0. - OPTIONAL : Name of the catalogue. Argument:
-n. Default to "observations_{system}{latitude}{longitude}_{size}.hdf5". Using any other extension as hdf5 will save the file in csv format. - OPTIONAL : Define the proxy to use (host:port). Argument:
-proxy. Default to None (no proxy).
For findsimbad, -d, -v, -n, -proxy are available. Ohter arguments are:
- REQUIRED: Simbad identifier of the object to query. Argument:
-id. - OPTIONAL: Columns to retreive from simbad, in addition to the default columns 'ident.id'. Columns must be defined as 'column1, column2, ...'". Argument:
-col. Empty by default. - OPTIONAL: Columns to retreive from gaia, Must be defined as 'column1, column2, ...'". Argument:
-gaia. Empty by default. - OPTIONAL: Magnitude bands to retreive from simbad. Must be defined as 'band1, band2, ...'". Argument:
-mag. Empty by default.
Arguments can be placed in any order.
Here is an example to get Gaia DR3 data for a zone centered at longitude=45°, lattitude=1°, for a pixel zise of 5' and that save the data in the directory /home/user/data/:
python3 findgaia.py -l 45 -b 5 -p 5 -d /home/user/data/
findgaia.py can also be directly called within a terminal:
pyfindgaia -l 45 -b 5 -p 5 -d /home/user/data/
The same stand for find2mass.py:
pyfind2mass -l 45 -b 5 -p 5 -d /home/user/data/
As well as for findgaia2mass.pu:
pyfindgaia2mass -l 45 -b 5 -p 5 -d /home/user/data/
Here is a example to get the effective temperature and surface gravity for three stars HD003360, HD031726, HD032630:
python3 findsimbad.py -id "HD003360, HD031726, HD032630" -col "mesFe_H.teff, mesFe_H.log_g"
The default name of the output file have the following form:
observations_gaia_{latitude}_{longitude}_{size}.hdf5withfindgaia.pyobservations_2mass_{latitude}_{longitude}_{size}.hdf5withfind2mass.pyobservations_gaia2mass_{latitude}_{longitude}_{size}.hdf5withfindgaia2mass.pysimbad_output.hdf5withfindsimbad.py
Both files are either csv or hdf5 files. They contain the following columns/datasets by default:
- Gaia: BP, BP_err, G, G_err, RP, RP_err, parallax, parallax_err, l, b,
- 2mass: J, J_err, H_m, H_err, K_m, K_err, l, b
- Gaia & 2MASS: BP, BP_err, G, G_err, RP, RP_err, parallax, parallax_err, J, J_err, H_m, H_err, K_m, K_err, l, b
- Simbad: id, GaiaDR3 source id (simply named GaiaDR3)
Sources with any empty column are automatically removed. Gaia parallaxes are corrected with the Lindegren et al. (2021) method. These two traitements do not apply to findsymbad (the parallax correction can be activated, but might not always work)
This package can by installed via pip:
