I have made time available this year to work on our plan to extend atlas4py and hand over maintenance.
As a first step I tried the new build-system, and noticed that I needed to tweak the installation a little bit.
I will rebase my developments on top of this PR, so I'd be grateful if this were reviewed soon.
I also noticed that there's a parallel PR #30 with support for Python 3.13. I am not sure in which order you would like to have this merged. Also PR #30 could be adapted to provide support for Python 3.14 as well?
