Krita should work normally.

Actual behaviour

In 9 times out of 10, Krita crashes at the start.

2. Observe the crash

I did a trace of when it crashes and when it succeeds and it looks to be a race condition between threads.

I will note that in the trace where krita works there is no xdg-desktop-po messages at all

So I was able to fix the crash with a work around.

cd /usr/share/krita
sudo mv pykrita pykrita.bk

After that krita does not crash anymore. So it seems to be related to pykrita

also new messages show up while running it from console after last nights update. it also crashes more like 9 out of 10 times now for me.

So I was able to fix the crash with a work around.

cd /usr/share/krita sudo mv pykrita pykrita.bk

After that krita does not crash anymore. So it seems to be related to pykrita

this may have been fixed by this commit which is included in krita 5.2.14.

please test this PR #58524 to see if it fixed this issue.

This works for me. Installed the package locally and I don’t have crashes any more.

the update of krita that just hit seems to of fixed it for me. it ran 10 out of 10 times without any noticeable problems.
