Have the add-on search multiple fields for Hanzi

Is there a way to have this add-on look at multiple fields collectively for Hanzi? Specifically, I have one deck where the sort field is not where the Hanzi is, but in all my other decks the Hanzi is in the sort field. I want to have this add-on check all the fields where I put Hanzi.

If you are using Anki 2.1 you can configure it to look in all fields. Open plugin manager in Anki ("Tools -> Add-ons"), click on Hanzi Stats, click on Config, scroll down to the "fieldToUseForStats" and replace "sortField" with "all".

You can also edit your decks so your Hanzi field if is always the "sortField" or if not the "sortField" it is always the same "nth" field (i.e. 1 or 3 etc.) and tell Anki Stats to always look in that "nth" field.

Hmm, using "all" works but then it includes some words from the sentence examples in the cards I use. I was wondering if there was something I could do like put "sortField, character" so that it looks in both of those fields.

Changing the sort field also works but each card has an ID which helps order them which is the sort field, so it's best if I don't have to change the sort field.

The plugin doesn't currently support looking in exactly two separate fields (I'd be willing to merge a pull request that adds such configurable support while retaining backwards compatibility). The original version only supported "all", my first fork only supported "sortField" (exactly so the sentence examples didn't screw up my stats), and @infernalis kindly contributed the patch that allows the user to configure a single field to look in or all the fields.

However in your case I think you can re-arrange the ordering in your decks so that the field you want to look in always appears in the same field ii.e. always the 1st field or the 2nd field etc. in your "Notes" while using your same ID field as the sort field. Then tell HanziStats to look in the 1st field (or 2nd field) etc.
