Feature Details

Currently, the React Kolkata website provides information about events and community activities, but there is no dedicated section highlighting the volunteers who actively contribute to organizing and running the community.

Recognizing volunteers is important for community-driven initiatives, as it promotes engagement, transparency, and appreciation for contributors.

Instead of creating a separate “Community Member Spotlight” section, I propose adding a structured Volunteer section to formally acknowledge and showcase volunteers.

Suggested Solution

Introduce a new “Volunteer” section on the website.

Proposed implementation:

• Add a Volunteer section on the homepage or a dedicated page.
• Display volunteers using a reusable VolunteerCard component.
• Each card may include:

• Profile photo
• Name
• Role (Organizer / Volunteer / Speaker / Coordinator)
• Short bio (1–3 lines)
• Social links (GitHub, LinkedIn, etc.)

Data can initially be maintained using a static JSON file for easy updates.

Future enhancements (optional):
• Categorize volunteers by role.
• Add joining year or contribution highlights.
• Include a “Join as Volunteer” call-to-action button.
• Expand into a full community contributor directory.

Benefits:
• Recognizes active volunteers.
• Encourages more participation.
• Builds stronger community identity.
• Makes the website more structured and people-focused.
