Having hint1's grid area set to all screens repeats the same hints for both screens

I have a 2 screen setup, and setting hint1-mode.hint.grid-area=all-screens in the config duplicates the hint grid on both screens, with screen 1 being ultimately being selected every time.

Images show the full grid initially and when pressing a key, the smaller grid shows on both screens, then upon the final key press, the left screen is always picked.

Thanks for the bug report! That's indeed broken, the hint generation is called for each screen and it's not taking into account the hints that have already been used.
The easy solution I see is to split the hint keys in half, and allocate each half to one screen (assuming two screens).
For example, with the following hint keys:

q w e r t a s d f g z x c v b y u i o p h j k l ; n m , . /

q w e r t a s d f g z x c v b would be allocated to screen 1, and y u i o p h j k l ; n m , . / to screen 2.
Not sure if that's the best solution.

Edit: improvement over the solution described above:
For each screen, we know how many hints we want to display, and we can use that to distribute the hint keys more fairly. For example, if screen 1 needs 600 hints and screen 2 needs 400 hints, then we can allocate 60% of the hint keys to screen 1 (q w e r t a s d f g z x c v b y u i from the example above) and 40% to screen 2 (o p h j k l ; n m , . /).

After thinking about it further, I'm not sure if splitting the keys per screen is a good idea. Also, I don't think it will be possible to have short 2-characters hints when showing hints on 2 screens or more; it will be at least 3-characters hints.

Another approach is to generate the hints all at once, as if it was one big screen.
