Crossing the chasm with Google Cloud Workstations

We have some momentum in getting the eager and early adopters on board to the cloud workstations. What do we need to start crossing the chasm to get more people onboarded and using this resource?

May 2 part workshops: Part 1 Intro to Workstations, Part 2 Workstations + GitHub and Buckets

• Week 1 & Week 3 Part 1 delivered twice
• Week 2 & Week 4 Part 2 delivered twice
  Times will be staggered for East and Hawaii participation.

I think we had talked about this previously and wanted to keep this separate from the workshop planning issue (which is why I had added that one as a sub-issue in this one).

Part 1 4 different day (same material) and Part 2 4 different days.
Times: Tuesdays at 11:00am PT, Thursdays at 1:00pm PT

May 4-8. Part 1 held at 2 different days. Same material
May 11-15 Part 2 held at 2 different days. Same material
May 18-22 Part 1 held at 2 different days. Same material

Proposed Content (draft!)

Part 1: Intro to Workstations

• Intro to working in the cloud and how it's different than working on your computer
• Intro to the workstations available on the pilot program
• Starting up and shutting down a workstation
• Installing packages
• Uploading and downloading files

Part 2: Connecting Workstations to GitHub and Google Buckets

• Setting up your workstation to work with GitHub
• Cloning, pushing and pulling work.
• Intro to cloud storage, why we use cloud storage with cloud compute.
• Setting up your workstation to use a Google Cloud Bucket.
• Practice writing and reading data from a bucket
