I think there's a bug in Microsoft store version of your extension. Though Chrome store version of Don't Close Window With Last Tab is working fine with Microsoft Edge.
Browser version: Microsoft Edge 90.0.796.0 (Though the bug was there even with browser version 89)
Extension version: Don't Close Window With Last Tab 0.9.6
How to recreate the bug:
(1) After installing the extension from Microsoft store, select:
(a) Allow only one "New Tab" page in a window, and
(b) Allow "New Tab" page only as a last tab in a window, save the options.
(2) Open any webpage (e.g: Bing.com) in a regular, un-pinned tab, then pin it by "pin tab".
(3) Close the "empty" pinned tab.
(4) Now try to access that webpage you have just pinned (Bing.com).
Upon clicking the pinned tab icon, you will see it flashes for a second but you cannot actually access it anymore.
Note: This exact same behavior is working fine with Chrome store version of Don't Close Window With Last Tab in Microsoft Edge.
Thanks.
