Swipeable Media Carousel Slider

Parent Epic: Media & Gallery Enhancements

Current galleries in the Tour Operator plugin are static grids. We want to modernize them by:

• Converting galleries into swipeable carousel sliders.
• Supporting both images and videos within the same slider.
• Providing controls for navigation on desktop and swipe gestures on mobile.

This will improve user engagement and better showcase tour and accommodation visuals.

Scope

• Build or integrate a slider/carousel library compatible with the WordPress block editor.
• Enable mixed media (images + videos) in slides.
• Provide navigation arrows for desktop and swipe gestures for mobile.
• Ensure slider respects the LSX Design System spacing and styling.
• Provide settings for:
  • Number of slides visible
  • Autoplay on/off
  • Looping

Acceptance Criteria

• Galleries render as swipeable carousels.
• Both images and videos can appear in the slider.
• Navigation arrows visible on desktop.
• Swipe gestures functional on mobile.
• No accessibility violations (focus, screen reader compatibility).
• Smooth animations without jank or flicker.
