I have enjoyed using VIP and my radiant.model package uses it as a dependency. Unfortunately, CRAN is seeing testing issues and has started to move towards archiving VIP. See the link and email below.

maintainer thus far.
Thus, package vip is now scheduled for archival on 2025-12-01, and archiving this will necessitate also archiving its CRAN strong reverse dependencies.
Please negotiate the necessary actions.
