There is a lot of same stuff in the internet about node, just google it, or use yandex or whatever

As for me, i think the easy way to start is to learn express.js or sails.js

That is a quite simple frameworks, that could look difficult at first (if you just starting with node) but be patient, keep reading and you get a result in couple days. Wish you good luck.

About project, i've stopped to use that and have no free time for upgrades right now, so it has no upgrades currently according to my previous plans. Frankly speaking the code is not good enough, so just use it as an example to start playing with node.
