Simply implementing typescript instead of javascript, and types to go with it. Performance improvements would be in terms of better collaboration.
Possible Implementations
A lot of conversions would be needed, such as: Jest testing, the gauge component itself, possibly a different eslint-parser & settings. A lot of things could break trying to convert this.
