This site brings up a script that helps compiling C++ application in such mode that the compiler will prevent compilation in obvious cases of ill-coded programs.
I think that using the correct flags in the CMake file will be enough. (Qutepart is already quite strict, but will need to port the fixes there as well). qmdilib is .. I hope its not that broken.
