Batocera build version
44-dev-2026-07-24
Your architecture
X86_64
Your Graphic Processor Unit(s) (GPU)
Nvidia 840m
Issue description
Black screen
Detailed reproduction steps
I have an Acer V3-572G laptop with an Intel 5200U processor, Nvidia 840M graphics card, and 8 GB of RAM. Everything runs perfectly on Batocera 43.1. I had been updating to dev builds without issues—including the July 19th build—but after updating to the July 24th build and rebooting, the TV screen initially displayed a mass of multicolored dots. After a subsequent reboot, I was left with just a black screen; the Batocera audio still plays, and SMB/SSH access remains intact. I used SSH to revert to the stable build, and everything works fine there, but when I tried version 44 again, I encountered the same black screen issue. Modifying the configuration and manually specifying the video driver as "580" didn't help, nor did any other troubleshooting steps. The "580" driver works out of the box on version 43.1 without any configuration changes. For now, I’ve rolled back to version 43.1.
