I've been tinkering with this idea recently, and the early experiments are very promising. A system like the NUC9 Extreme Kit easily handles 1080p video at about 33-37 FPS. I also figured out how to enumerate video devices on Windows, and it seems possible to do the same in Ubuntu as well. That helps with displaying user-friendly names of video capture devices in the UI.
This would be a nice addition for the video-savvy users of VideoF2B. I'm planning to use it at future CL meets.
p.s. I believe it is also possible to record live audio in parallel, then mux it into the final video :)
