The former two do work with SOAP already. Don't see any reason that all 3 couldn't work with both. That would allow things like writing the 100 most massive SOAP halos to a new file with write_subset, or similarly with any desired list of indices. The FOF files lack cell metadata so not clear if the subset writer can/should work in that case... I guess it just makes it easier, in principle...
