Feedback:
- Step 1: it identified that the review cards on the homepage were using Webflow's dynamic CMS, but it suggested "ACF or native CPT" as the WP solution. Would be nice to see SCF, or even just native CPT suggested there.
- Step 2: content extraction took a long time (~20 minutes, including some waiting for me) for such a basic site
At this point, I went and quickly created a new site directly on WordPress.com to import into after reading this issue.
- Step 3: as in the above issue, it suggests to go to wordpress.com/me/security/application-passwords but the actual URL is https://wordpress.com/me/security/two-step (then scroll to bottom)
- Step 5: it wouldn't import the content into my site because it said
I've hit a WordPress.com API restriction — the free plan blocks REST API write access (creating posts/uploading media). This is a platform limitation, not a credential issue. I had a Personal Plan on the site though.
- I asked it to try again and it said
Found it. The site is in "Coming Soon" mode (launch_status: unlaunched) — WordPress.com blocks REST API writes on unlaunched sites.
- So I launched my site, but it remained blocked.
- Then it told me that
The error "authentication against the correct blog" tells us exactly what's wrong — the application password was likely created from your general WordPress.com account settings (wordpress.com/me/security/application-passwords) rather than from this specific site's admin panel. which may be true, but it told me to go create a site-specific Application Password on marksdataliberationagenttest.wordpress.com/wp-admin/profile.php but there was nowhere to do that...
At this point, I gave up on an automatic import and pivoted to importing the WXR manually.
- Step 5 (continued): I manually imported the WXR file and the main CTA after doing so on WordPress.com is to "Pick a design", which is kind of a bummer at this point because I was expecting the agent to pick a theme for me.
- The media didn't upload, so I had to manually add them to the media library.
- Step 6: It gave me a decent list of manual attention items:

- I ended up with a pretty unusable site.
- But I guess because I had an existing site for Step 4, there was no theme selection process and I have the basic content imported, but a lot of work to do to get to a functional site now.
